The Growth Factor

God’s expectation right now is that you grow- mature spiritually.
But the people who [are spiritually mature and] know their God will display strength and take action [to resist]. (Daniel 11:32 AMP).
The things that you are expecting cannot materialise until you demonstrate that you are growing. Everything you want in life is predicated on growth.
God is looking for His children to grow. Joseph was his father’s favourite child but to his brothers he was a spoilt brat. His brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him. (Genesis 37:4 NLT).

God had revealed to Joseph via a dream that he would end up being in a position of authority over his brothers and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever. (Genesis 37:5 NLT). Before the vision materialised, Joseph had to grow i.e. mature spiritually and recognise his position of responsibility in looking after his family and extended family. Despite his brothers selling Joseph into slavery, when he became prime minister, Joseph showed kindness to his brothers: 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. 21 No, don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them. (Genesis 50:20-21 NLT). Joseph had grown spiritually.

But how did Joseph grow? He grew in the wilderness whilst working as a slave and whilst falsely thrown in prison. You tend to grow during times of difficulty. It’s important to recognise that in your period of difficulty, it’s not about you but about God.
We grow to fulfil God’s purpose. God is using you to affect other people’s lives. You were created to positively affect and bless others. There are family members, friends, loved ones waiting on you to grow so that you can be a blessing to them.
As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison. (Nelson Mandela). Like Joseph, on leaving prison, Nelson Mandela became prime minister.

You have to grow in order to be used by God for great exploits.
Whilst growing, do you have the right mind-set? Do you persistently complain about the situation/difficulty or pray to God to help you get out of the situation/difficulty?
Complain and remain, praise God and be raised.
The things that you are expecting cannot materialise until you demonstrate that you have grown to the position that God wants you to be.
You are praying to God to move you to the next level but God is waiting on you to grow spiritually to function effectively at that level.
In the same way that nursing infants cry for milk, you must intensely crave the pure spiritual milk of God’s Word. For this “milk” will cause you to grow into maturity, fully nourished and strong for life. (1 Peter 2:2 The Passion Translation).
Think and grow spiritually with the word of God.
Shalom.
