The Cry for Mercy

Have you been praying to Yahweh for mercy?

When you look deeply at the situation you’re dealing with – is your cry simply to ask Yahweh for mercy?

Do you feel you’ve been crying out to Yahweh for months, and your situation appears to be getting worse? I feel that way….

It’s like there doesn’t seem to be a response from Yahweh.

Maybe, Yahweh is waiting for you to respond accordingly. Respond how - you may ask?

By showing mercy to others. Maybe Yahweh is waiting for you to pass the demonstration of mercy test to others.

Have you got a case right now, where the person, people have behaved wickedly towards you or others. Are you judging or have you judged them accordingly.

But meditate on the following scriptures:

If You, LORD, should keep an account of our sins and treat us accordingly, O Lord, who could stand [before you in judgment and claim innocence]? (Psalm 130:3 AMP).

Have you behaved badly historically, or presently and has Yahweh forgiven you? If so, who are you to judge another brother or sister?

The bible states: God alone is the judge. He punishes one person and rewards another (Psalm 75:7 GW). Another translation states: it is God who is the judge, condemning some and acquitting others (GNT).

God is the only lawgiver and judge. He alone can save and destroy. Who do you think you are, to judge someone else? (James 4:12 GNT). Another translation states: but who are you to [hypocritically or self-righteously] pass judgment on your neighbour? (AMPC).

When Joseph was released from prison and became the prime minister, the second most powerful person in the land, he didn’t go after Mrs Potiphar for falsely accusing him of rape. If anyone had a right to be bitter and enraged, it was Joseph. He showed mercy to Mrs Potiphar, and he showed mercy to his brothers who sold him into slavery.

Who do you think you are to self-righteously judge or criticise your fellow brother or sister?

The bible states: Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly] (Matthew 7:1 AMP).

Are you crying to God for mercy, but God is waiting on you to show mercy to your fellow brother and sister? This could be the single impediment blocking your prayers being answered.

Please meditate on this scripture, this is where I am going on your cry for mercy:

The merciful man does good for his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh (Proverbs 11:17 NKJV). Let’s look at some other translations:

The merciful and generous man benefits his soul [for his behavior returns to bless him], But the cruel and callous man does himself harm (AMP).

A merciful person helps himself, but a cruel person hurts himself (GW).

A man of kindness attracts favour, while a cruel man attracts nothing but trouble (TPT).

You do yourself a favour when you are kind. If you are cruel, you only hurt yourself (GNT).

It’s you demonstrating mercy FIRST that triggers the answers to prayers. It releases a response from heaven.

Has the penny dropped now? Who has offended you this season and you’re refusing to show mercy and kindness? Maybe Yahweh is saying to you, as soon as you forgive and show mercy to them, the sooner I will show mercy to you.

The sooner you show mercy and kindness to the people that have offended you, the sooner your prayers will be answered.

The bible is clear: Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy (Matthew 5:7 KJV). Other translation states: Blessed [content, sheltered by God’s promises] are the merciful, for they will receive mercy (AMPC).

How blessed are you when you demonstrate tender mercy! For tender mercy will be demonstrated to you (TPT).

Bottom line: your cry for mercy to Yahweh is conditional on you showing mercy to others. There is someone right now, that Yahweh wants you to show mercy to.

If Joseph showed mercy to Mrs Potiphar and his brothers, you too must show mercy. No ifs or buts.

This could just be the key to unlock those stubborn challenges in your life. The key to unlock God’s promises for 2024!

Shalom.
